Earlier this week Olwg Technical Director Tony Griffiths attending the Marine Energy Wales 2022 conference in Llandudno, North Wales. It’s an exciting time to support energy transition projects in Wales, but key message was that we have run out of time to be thinking about decarbonising our energy sources. Phrases like ‘Crisis’, ‘Urgency’ and ‘Watershed Moment’ define the situation we are in.

A lot was learned about the upcoming wind & tidal developments & technologies in Wales – and the organisations that are making this happen!

It was really great to properly meet the wonderful Menter Mon Ltd team (in real life!) after working with some of them for over a year on the Holyhead Hydrogen development. There was great excitement yesterday morning as the significant funding for the Morlais Tidal development at Holyhead was announced: https://lnkd.in/dhGXXqVE . This will now take the project into execution which is hugely important long-term for Holyhead.

(read our previous blog post on why the Morlais tidal development is important): The Tide is Turning in Holyhead (olwg.co.uk)
It was also interesting to hear of the various regional development cluster & collaboration initiatives set up to promote opportunities for efficient development. And we saw some more cool digital data tools designed to support good decision-making.Hopefully will be back next year to see how these developments are progressing!
